I had the same issue especially when using OneNote where pressing space was causing the command to do an 'Undo'. IOS v13.5.1 on an iPad Pro 4th Gen. Had the same issue with a 4th generation Ipad air with the magic apple keyboard. Settings - Accessibility - Keyboards - Full Keyboard access - commands - Activate - Clear.

Recently I bought new iPad Air 3 (2019) for note-taking purpose. Actually I already own Surface Pro 3 (2014) and really fond with that. But then it shifted to be my personal PC for work. After spending quite some time with my new iPad Air 3, I would like to compare both of them in this blog.
Not a fair review, I know. While one is launched this year, the other is almost 5 years old. That’s why I’m gonna write a review specifically for note-taking. By Handwriting of course, with their respective surface pen and apple pencil.
Ipad Pro Onenote

Ever since I know drawing board from Wacom many years ago and knowing there is touch screen system, I always dreaming to be able to write on the screen. Some people may remember how PDA with stylus change how we interact with. However, my expectation was bigger than that. Then the idea was brought by HTC with their HTC Flyer.

The trend continue with Galaxy Note 1 also introduced on the same year. But it’s not a PC that I know. I still hope that I can use my PC with stylus directly on the scree. Unfortunately, Microsoft just introduced Surface Pro 1 on 2013 and I know it a year later.
Knowing Surface pro 3 launch, I eagerly waiting and pre-order it. It arrived with all my expectation fulfilled with Onenote app. Then windows 10 come in 2015, with many adjustment of my surface pen experience. In the same year, iPad pro with apple pencil was unveiled. But, I still saw it like a substitutes of galaxy note tablet.
5 years later, with my surface become my main productivity machine, I use it more as a PC than note-taking. I give thumbs for some improvement, but my taking-note need not fully satisfied. That’s one reason I tempted to try iPad with apple pencil. Moreover, they bring pencil to their low-tier iPad as well.
So after spend some time with both device, here is my experience with them:

Before I start, remember that I compare for note-taking purpose. So I didn’t consider their specs. I also think that iPad OS is become closer to bring desktop experience to iPad.

In the end, the experience is determined by what app you’re using. While Surface give more native experience than iPad, but limited option of app is quite hassle. I can’t say which is better because they deliver different experience. Back to what suit you most based on your preferences and other considered purpose.
Surface:
+ Native pen support
+ No need additional app for taking note and PDF annotation (all free)
+ Basically it’s a PC, so you have PC power with it and can install desktop app
– Not many good app option for note-taking with pen
– It still a PC, so the performance may get affected with more app you install and touch experience still not quite robust
– Less power to give you a-day work
iPad:
+ More app option for note-taking purpose that specifically designed for iPad
+ Robust tablet experience with developing desktop interface with iPad OS
+ More portable and more power for long usage time
– Native apps not good enough for full note-taking and PDF annotation
– Additional cost for app
– It just a tablet, no matter how good they advertise it
Back in August, Microsoft teased that it was working on Dark Mode support for its full Office suite for iOS and as it rolled out support for the feature with Outlook. The plan was to have Office Dark Mode support in time for the launch of iOS 13. Even though it’s coming about a month later, it’s great to now see system-wide Dark Mode support arrive for Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote for iPhone and iPad.
As we previously reported, Microsoft highlighted that it has built the system-wide Dark Mode support for its iOS 13 and iPadOS 13 Office suite from the ground up. That made the process a bit more labor-intensive as it “worked to ensure design teams were ‘aligning to the single palette.'”
Microsoft has slowly updated certain apps with support for Dark Mode like Office for Mac getting the dark treatment last December and Outlook for iOS getting the update back in August ahead of the iOS 13 release.
Today, Microsoft has quietly rolled out system-wide Dark Mode support for iPhones and iPads running the latest iOS and iPadOS versions for the rest of its Office apps: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. Interesting enough, the release notes don’t mention the change (except for OneNote) but Dark Mode support has indeed arrived as spotted by WCCFTech (via MacRumors)
Once you’ve updated to the most recent Office iOS or iPadOS apps, Microsoft’s productivity suite will respect the system-wide Dark Mode setting.
In addition to the official iOS 13 Dark Mode Support, the apps include some other small tweaks and changes.
