  1. If i had another transmission out i would. There are really only a few parts you gotta keep an eye out for. When you get the 2 shafts out as long as you stack everything up like it came out you wont have a problem. There are 3 pill looking things and a bb that you really gotta watch for. Those are what gave me trouble. In pulling it apart they all fell out and i had to find out where.
  2. I was planning on just getting a built TR3650 from one of the many shops that make these 700Hp capable with a better clutch and fly wheel. But I am looking at about 2,200 for the transmission, 400-500 hundred for a clutch and at least 300 on a fly wheel(new crank is 8 bolt) So that puts me around 2900.00 Plus whatever odds and ends cost I'm.

TR3650 Transmission Overview Designed and manufactured by Tremec, the TR-3650 is a 5-speed manual transmission that was first introduced in the SN95 2001 Ford Mustang GT and 2001 Ford Mustang Cobra. Long story short, my 2v broke a chain guide, dropped pieces in the oil pickup (clogging it), lost oil pressure and seized up my engine. I recently bought a Mach 1 parts car with the 32v 4.6 and TR-3650 5 speed to swap into my 2000 Mustang. Not too long ago I did some clutch work on my T-45 with.

The TREMEC TR-3650 is a 5-speed manual transmission for longitudinal engineautomobiles. It includes a 5th gear that functions as an overdrive gear, light-weight aluminum housings, a synchromesh reverse gear, and synchromeshed helical cut forward gears. It is manufactured by Transmission Technologies Corporation and is rated for 360 lbf⋅ft (490 N⋅m) of torque. The loss in power transmission efficiency is rated at approximately 16% in 4th gear for a 2005–2010 Ford Mustang GT.

  • 1st: 3.380:1
  • 2nd: 2.000:1
  • 3rd: 1.320:1
  • 4th: 1.000:1
  • 5th: 0.670:1 (used in 2001 with GT, Bullitt and Cobra)
  • 5th: 0.620:1 (used in 02-04 with GT and Mach 1)
  • Rev: 3.380:1

Note that in the other TR-3650 applications, the 5th gear ratio is also available with 0.68(05-10 with 3.55:1 final drive)[1] and 0.74.

In 2002 Ford Australia's vehicle were fitted with the following ratios:

  • 1st 3.37:1
  • 2nd 2.00:1
  • 3rd 1.32:1
  • 4th 1.00:1
  • 5th 0.62:1

Recommended Oil and Fill Capacity[edit]

TREMEC engineers have recommended Texaco-Havoline Dexron III/Mercon Non-Synthetic ATF. There has been a significant amount of confusion regarding the proper capacity and proper type of ATF for the TR-3650 which may have a correlation with a rather large number of complaints about notchy shifting, shift 'nibbling', noisy synchros, and grinding gears. The 2007 Mustang GT owner's manual specified the use of 3.0 L of non-synthetic Mercon ATF in the 3650, while the 2008 Mustang GT owner's manual now specifies the use of 3.0 L of Mercon-V ATF in the 3650. Dexron III/Mercon Non-Synthetic ATF seems to work best for pre-2005 Mustang GTs.NB: Tremec service manual also specifies Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF ( Tremec specification ET-M-99 ) in addition to Dexron III.

Note that Tremec engineers have also recommended GM Synchromesh as the transmission fluid.

Note Mal Wood Automotive, an official authorised Tremec distributor in Australia, have consistently recommended use of Castrol Transmax Z[2] for use in the Australia Ford vehicles.[3]

With thousands of T5 and T56 kits already sold, G-Force has come up with another exceptionally durable gear kit. This new gear kit is for the TR3650 5-speed transmission that comes standard in the 2001 to 2010 V8 Mustangs, although this transmission will fit almost any application with the correct bell housing.


The G-Force 3650 Transmission

This 1000 horsepower capable gear kit is the first aftermarket gear kit offered for this transmission and we’ve taken the unprecedented step of offering this kit with precision ground gears to help eliminate some of the NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) associated with aftermarket gear designs. The gear design is from our proven T56 combination so there is already a vast database of testing experience with this particular design. Gear ratios for this kit are 2.90 1st gear, 1.91 2nd gear, and 1.37 3rd gear. 4th gear is still direct drive (1.000) of course and a .58 overdrive gear accommodates the typically steeper rear gear that most cars run for street/strip applications. There is also a .69 overdrive option available.
Great for launches and even better that stock fuel mileage in most applications. Also, this kit utilizes the factory 1st gear on the mainshaft for greater cost savings as compared to manufacturing a new gear. We’ve found that the large stock mainshaft 1st gear is more than adequate for virtually any application.
This kit also utilizes the factory mainshaft as they already have a large 31 spline output that will hold up to even the most severe punishment. This helps keep costs down and allows us to offer the kit at a more attractive price than would be possible otherwise, while increasing the level of overall quality for less cost.
